【Abstract】 High-voltage transmission lines are mostly distributed in the wild, with a broad covering area, the geographical environment and climatic conditions of which are harsh. Traditional manual patrolling can not assure the accuracy of the results, and will cost a lot of manpower, money and material resources. It can not do real-time on-line monitoring either, and it’s inefficient so that the potential security risks of high-voltage transmission lines can not be detected in time.In order to overcome the deficiencies of existing technologies, according to high-voltage transmission lines’own characteristics, the operational and control strategy of on-line monitoring system for high-voltage transmission lines is studied. The thesis adopts microcontroller, digital image acquisition and processing, sensors,3G and other wireless communications, GIS, databases, programming and other technologies to design and develop an on-line monitoring system for high-voltage transmission lines, which can accurately monitor the changes of operation state for high-voltage transmission lines in time. The live video/images, audio, on-site monitoring data and early warning/alarm information are transmitted through wireless communication network to the monitoring center, so that the operation state of high-voltage transmission lines can be in the grasp of the operating personnels in the monitoring center and the real-time monitoring of high-voltage transmission lines can be achieved.In this thesis, the design process of the whole system is described in detail. The hardware composition and software control of the on-site multifunctional monitoring station are introduced. The collecting, processing and transmission process of 3G video data are discussed, the strategy of 2G controlling 3G is proposed, and the format and the function of communication protocols are defined. The software design process of the monitoring center is described. The test, implementation effect and other actual application of on-line monitoring system for high-voltage transmission lines are introduced.After 5 months of preoperation, the system runs stably, and has passed the test and acceptance organized by the service unit. The system has reasonable structure, high reliability, good practicability and good adaptability to the wild and is full-featured and easy to operate. The use of the system has been a big help for the management of high-voltage transmission lines. It has played an important, practical and significant role in protecting the personal safety of the operating personnels, the property of our state and the safe and stable operation of power systems. And it also provides a reliable technical support for the development of smart transmission system.
